With the departure of Principal Lynda Rice, the Fountain Hills Charter School will move forward under a new leadership structure.

FHCS Business Administrator Rebecca Craig stated that Rice’s resignation “came as a surprise” on Oct. 7, prior to fall break. Despite the unexpected departure, however, Craig said that the local Charter School has handled the transition well.

“It provided an opportunity to restructure our school based on the organizational summary of our original charter,” Craig explained.

For the time being, Craig said there are no plans to look for a replacement principal due to this reorganization.

“We have an amazing group of teachers and other staff members who are dedicated to our students’ success,” she continued. “Parents and staff members provided feedback on how to adjust seamlessly. Moving forward, leadership will be shared amongst our faculty, staff members, parents and community members.”

Craig explained how the new structure operates.

“With this shared leadership, the Teaching Cell Director will ensure that our educational program continues in accordance to our school’s mission, goals, performance standards and student outcomes identified in our charter,” she said. “The PTO has embraced the opportunity to be involved in community outreach. The office staff will continue to facilitate the work of the teachers and the Board of Directors to help them effectively reach school goals.”
