Chamber selects nominees for annual awards

Three business owners are candidates for the Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year.

They are Phyliss Kern, Realtor with Kern Realty and owner of Kern Entertainment; Dan Margolis, Fountain Hills Barber Shop, and David Racich, president of Brokers Alliance.

Kern has been involved in coordinating the Fourth of July and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Margolis is responsible for scheduling entertainment at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507 beer garden at The Great Fair and Fountain Festival of Arts and Crafts.

Chamber selects nominees for annual awards

Three business owners are candidates for the Chamber of Commerce’s Business Person of the Year.

They are Phyliss Kern, Realtor with Kern Realty and owner of Kern Entertainment; Dan Margolis, Fountain Hills Barber Shop, and David Racich, president of Brokers Alliance.

Kern has been involved in coordinating the Fourth of July and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Margolis is responsible for scheduling entertainment at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507 beer garden at The Great Fair and Fountain Festival of Arts and Crafts.

Chamber members voted for their choice online last week. The winner will be announced with other award recipients at the gala, 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 29, at Eagle Mountain Golf Club. The attire is Hawaiian casual.

Tickets are $65 per person or $120 per couple. Table sponsorships also are available. The deadline for purchasing tickets is April 8.

Non-Profit of the Year

Non-profit of the Year award candidates are The Fountain Hills Republican Club, Kiwanis Noon Club of Fountain Hills and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507.

Customer Service

Five nominees are vying for Customer Service Award. They are Claudia Barrajas, Euro Pizza; Doug Hill, Sami Fine Jewelry; Jake Grantham, McDowell Mountain Cycles; Marty Coplea, McDowell Mountain Cycles, and Tracy Rothstein, Pal’s Inn Pet Resort.

Teacher of the Year

Nominees for Teacher of the Year are Kathy Rawn, second grade at McDowell Mountain Elementary School; Mary McDonald, fourth grade at Four Peaks Elementary; Susan Bovinette, second grade at McDowell Mountain Elementary; Talia Houseal, third grade at McDowell Mountain Elementary, and Tim Yoder, eighth grade at Fountain Hills Middle School.

Mayor Award

Mayor Linda Kavanagh will select the recipient for the Mayor Award.
