Chamber adds skating rink to Stroll in the Glow

Visitors to the Stroll in the Glow on Saturday, Dec. 1, will enjoy slipping on a pair of skates and taking a twirl on a 1,800-square-foot rink.

The Town of Fountain Hills and Chamber of Chamber, sponsors, are calling the free attraction, “Chill in the Hills.”

The skating rink will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. for one evening only at the intersection of Verde River and the Avenue of the Fountains.

The road is closed to vehicular traffic so holiday celebrants can enjoy the holiday lights, community band, live Nativity, Santa’s arrival by fire truck and photos, and holiday treats from area businesses.

Chamber CEO Scott Soldat-Valuenzula said the synthetic rink will mimic the feeling of skating on real ice.

Provided by a Phoenix metro company, the rink will provide lighting, music, seating for observers and 30-minute shifts for skaters. No experience will be necessary.

Registration on a first-come, first-served basis will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the site.
