The Fountain Hills Art League will host Carrie Godwin as the speaker and demonstration artist at the league’s monthly meeting Monday, Feb. 5.

Godwin is a Fountain Hills-based watercolor media artist.

With degrees in photography and graphic design, Godwin blended her knowledge to the beauty and mystery of watercolor, according to a press release written by Nancy Grahlmann, president of the Fountain Hills Art League. “It brings the perfect marriage of the three art mediums,” Grahlmann said.

Godwin’s time in the photo labs and press dates back to the 1990s through the early 2000s when she worked in magazines and advertising, allowing her to master the layering processes of watercolor painting that is needed to make a transparent painting, Grahlmann added.

“Color theory is her passion and teaching others how to see color and subjects differently is something she is eager to share with others,” Grahlmann said.

Godwin’s work is found in the Fountain Hills Artists Gallery, 16858 E. Avenue of the Fountains.
