C.E. “Hermy” Hermonson, Jr., 84, was called home on Aug. 21, 2018, with his family by his side.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1933, in Harvard, Ill., and has lived in Tucson, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills.

He is survived by Jeanne Hermonson, his wife of 29 years; daughter, Tami Dawn Hermonson; stepdaughter, Kim Nordberg; stepson, Al Nordberg; grandchildren, Brittney Dawn Giarrusso, Brandon Michael Giarrusso; great grandson, Kingston Lee Giarrusso; sister, Marilyn Berg; brother-in-law, Bill Berg; and Pat Anderson, wife of deceased brother, Ken Anderson.

He was predeceased by his mother, Ethel Hermonson; father, Clarence Hermonson, Sr.; the mother of his children, Betty L. Hermonson; sons, Randal Edwin Lee Hermonson and Brooke Andrew Hermonson.

Hermy never met a stranger and was an affable car man. He lived by the scriptural principle, “if you want to have friends, show yourself friendly.” He had “off the chart” craziness just to get you to laugh.

He started in the car business at 29 years of age; moved to Tucson in 1962, and worked at Quebedeaux Pontiac. He moved to Scottsdale in 1967 when he started at Biddulphland in Glendale as general sales manager. He won many sales awards and many of the people who worked with Hermy remarked that they never enjoyed their automotive experiences as much anywhere else. He established a remarkable customer following from many different geographic areas in and around Arizona. He retired in 1991.

He enjoyed his quarter horses, restoring his antique farm tractors and collecting Tonka toys. Beginning in 1991, he and Jeanne enjoyed retirement at their summer home in Mullet Lake, Mich. In 2016 his health forced them to return to Arizona full time. Hermy also loved and enjoyed his dogs, Holly and Riley. He also loved to feed his bunnies and watch and feed quail and humming birds near his Fountain Hills home.

He will forever be in our hearts; we love you – husband, dad and grandfather.

The celebration of life will be at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 North Saguaro Blvd., Fountain Hills on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at 11 a.m.
