The Fountain Hills Democratic Club has a full agenda for its first 2019 meeting on Thursday, Jan. 10.

The group gathers at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.

The club will celebrate Democrat victories in the 2018 election and preview what the New Year has in store.

Guest speakers include Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Segal and John Ainlay.

Segal is a professor of social work at ASU and will discuss her new book, “Social Empathy.” She is a former member of the Democratic Club, a Fountain Hills resident and an interesting and inspiring speaker, according to meeting planners.

Ainlay is the newly-elected chair of Legislative District 23. He will discuss his vision for the upcoming year and preparations for the 2020 election.

The meeting will begin following a social time from 6 to 6:30 p.m. A raffle for two door prizes will be held, and membership dues of $20 for 2019 will be collected.

Volunteer opportunities will be discussed, with help requested for the Jan. 23 Volunteer and Club Expo and the Great Fair Feb. 22 to 24.

The club is sponsoring a chartered bus to the Women’s March Tuesday, Jan. 19, to downtown Phoenix. Seat reservations may be made at the meeting for $25 each.
