Fountain Hills Town Council meets Wednesday this week

Delayed due to Labor Day holiday

In a change from the norm, the Fountain Hills Town Council will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 4, instead of the regular Tuesday schedule. This is to allow for additional time for staff preparation following the Monday holiday.

An item staff has been working on for most of two years and the Planning and Zoning Commission has had on the table most of this calendar year is set for council consideration this coming week.

The council will consider an ordinance amendment to the Zoning Ordinance related to regulations for wireless telecommunications towers and antenna. This item was first brought to the council by citizens who raised issues about health concerns from radio frequencies, as well as property concerns related to siting for towers in the right-of-way. Staff have struggled with a balance addressing those concerns and state and federal laws which preempt local ordinances to regulate telecommunications.
