Brush fire burns up hill near Fountain Hills

Along Beeline Highway at Shea Boulevard

Firefighters responded to a brush fire along the Beeline Highway (SR87) near the Shea Boulevard intersection late Wednesday, Oct. 9.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze at about five acres, according to Fountain Hills Fire Chief Dave Ott.

The fire started near the quarry on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and crossed over the boundary onto the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. It quickly burned up the hill toward an array of communications towers and equipment.
