Block Watch

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is looking to kick the Block Watch program back into high gear, and we want to encourage members of the community to consider getting involved.

We’ve only got a handful of deputies out on patrol at any given time, and Fountain Hills has a lot of ground to cover. Nobody knows a neighborhood quite like the folks who live there, which is why programs like Block Watch have proven to be so successful over the years.

MCSO is by no means asking community members to take on crime like a suburban Batman, but a lot can be accomplished when folks start to look out for their neighbors. All it takes is a handful of community members to make their block that much safer, simply by taking a stroll every now and again and reporting any suspicious behavior.

For more information, check out our coverage on page 1A. MCSO is eager to work with community members to establish Block Watch groups around town. For folks asking “what can I do to make my community safer,” this certainly seems like a good start.
