Local nonprofit Bishop’s Mission is teaming up with another Fountain Hills business to raise money for medical care for service dogs of first responders and veterans.
During the “Paw-Dicures For a Cause” event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Aug. 16 at PawSpa Salon, 11831 N. Saguaro Blvd., dog owners can bring their pet in for a $20 nail trim and buff. All proceeds from these “Paw-Dicures” will raise money for Bishop’s Mission’s Emergency Veterinary Fund, helping provide medical assistance for the aforementioned service dogs.
“We can come in and offer nail trims to help raise money. If people want to bring in donations of booties, cooling mats and actual items, we can go ahead and collect those, too,” said Bishop’s Mission founder Kate Klasen. “For the funds that are raised, that’s gonna be going towards the emergency vet fund. So just last week, we had a service dog that ended up in the ER and we were able to help out by paying for blood work and X-ray through donations. That’s what this all this raising money is for.”
