Let’s talk about the biggest liars in recent American politics, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
I was amazed that anyone could forget then President George W. Bush’s speech made on June 21, 2003 which led to the deaths of thousands of Iraq civilians and American military.
Every element of the Bush administration’s campaign on weapons of mass destruction has been shown to be false! That these claims have historically proven to be lies should hardly come as a surprise to educated voters. Even before the Bush’s administration’s unwarranted attack on Iraq, the charges of weapons of mass destruction were widely rejected by other governments around the world.

As the Presidential election of 2016 draws closer, I expect the political debate to expand and become even more heated. What I hope not to see this election cycle is more of the unchallenged half- truths and misrepresentation of the facts that have dominated the past election cycles.
We don’t need to censor the opinion writers in our local newspaper. As recent opinions have shown, the residents who live year-round in Fountain Hills are already calling into question the lack of truth in the ramblings of some writers. Please don’t stop the fact checks or the disclosure of the real truths.
And finally, I too wish to express my gratitude to Ann and Bill Schweers. I enjoyed all their letters printed in The Fountain Hills Times and more recently in The Arizona Republic. I will greatly miss their truthful and factual discussions regarding so many political and social issues. And may I also add my deepest sympathy for your loss Ann.
