Big difference

I’ve always wondered what a difference one day can make. On Saturday, Oct. 25, I found out that one day can truly change your life, because that was Make a Difference Day in Fountain Hills. I signed up for MADD help because I have serious Parkinson’s and can’t do many things around the house.

Moving furniture to get a path through the living room so my walker can get around is very important to me. Cleaning the oven so I don’t smell burning things or have a grease fire is a big deal. Clearing the garage so storage is organized and neat and there is a straight and safe path out is something I couldn’t do.

These things may not sound important to most people, but they, and many other projects the volunteers tackled, are not a luxury but make it possible for me to stay in my own home.

I tried to thank each volunteer personally as they left my home, but I choked up with tears. So now, I want to officially do it again. Thank you all, not only for me, but I’m sure for all the other Fountain Hills residents who benefitted from your help.

Many thanks to Heather Ware who organized the MADD project and all the wonderful, giving volunteers who did all the work. Those of us who benefitted from your generosity know “what a difference a day makes.”
