Posted

Betty G. Brannon, 81, was called home Sept. 29, 2017, to reunite and rejoice with her loving husband, son, grandson, beloved Chihuahua Harley, and many family and friends. As we are left grieving and heart-broken, one day we will all be together again. What a day that will be!

Born Betty Gene Cecil on Feb. 20, 1936 in Scottdale, Pa., she moved to Phoenix with her family in the early 1940’s, attending local grade schools and graduating from Phoenix Union High School in 1954. She married William Brannon on Feb. 14, 1954 in Salome, Ariz.

Betty went by many names, Mert, mom, ma, mama, gg, and battleax. She raised five children and worked full time all her life at various companies as an administrator and retired from the Town of Fountain Hills in 2007. She was known by many to be the most hard-working, efficient, organized, and knowledgeable administrator, bar-none.

When it came to work, it was her no-nonsense, get it done attitude that made many worship her skills. Betty had a very deep faith and it was reflected daily in her bright shining eyes and big cheerful smile she shared with all. She will be deeply missed.

Survived by daughter, Sandra Hugunin of Fountain Hills, son, David Brannon of Fountain Hills, daughter and her husband, Hazel and Bill Cunningham of Fountain Hills, daughter and her husband, Shawn and Robert Marcotte of Phoenix, honorary daughter and her husband, Mary and Ed Taschner of Fountain Hills, daughter-in-law, Kathy Brannon of California, favorite niece and her husband, Eva and Robert Hansen, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her and she was a constant worrier. Let’s pray her worrying is now lifted.

Betty’s life will be honored in a memorial service at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix Friday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m.
