Beach

Let’s face it; what this lagoon is really going to be is a beach. If this crazy plan goes through, mark my words, it will be the end of our fabulous Fountain.

Already the height of our “World Famous” fountain has been lowered due to its spray wetting vehicles parked around the park. What will happen if the fountain’s new lower height allows its spray to reach the beach? Will it be lowered even more? Or worse, removed?

Also, one of the new recommendations is to make the beach smaller to accommodate up to 3,700 people. If it draws the estimated 3,700 people on any given day, and there are an average of three people per vehicle, that totals 1,233 vehicles. Where will they park? Or will even more of our beautiful park be taken away from us and paved over with an asphalt parking lot?

These are only the tip of the iceberg of problems already cited in these columns by concerned citizens of our wonderful town. One of the reasons we moved here six years ago was the serene beauty of the park and its fountain. Please do not take this away from us.
