Barbara Jean “Barb” McGarry, 81, of Carlsbad, California, formerly of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away September 22, 2026, at Sunrise at La Costa in Carlsbad. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., October 24, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, with Visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Livestreaming at http://www.facebook.com/schultzfuneralhomes/live Barb was born May 3, 1945, in DeWitt, to Charles Leonard and Anna (Ryan) Trimble. She graduated from Mount St. Clare Academy of Nursing in Clinton and worked as a registered nurse at DeWitt Community Hospital for 20 years. Barb and Bill relocated from DeWitt, IA to Fountain Hills, Arizona in 1987, then Barb spent her final 2 years nearby family in Carlsbad, California. On July 24, 1965, Barb married William James “Bill” McGarry at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, Illinois. Together they were blessed five children and 11 grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, helping others, peaceful walks in the desert and along the beach, and watching sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God, generosity, and compassion. Surviving are her children, Mike (Georgia) McGarry of Montrose, Colorado, Mark (Kelly) McGarry of San Diego, California, Matt (Julie) McGarry of DeWitt, Maria McGarry of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Marty (Tracy) McGarry of Carlsbad; grandchildren, Luke, Sarah, Naomi, Hana, Maddy, Jake, Justin, William, and Taryn. Also surviving are her siblings, Irene Langham of Fountain Hills, Charles (Beverly) Trimble of Superior, Arizona, Thomas (Joy) Trimble of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael (Catherine) Trimble of Johnston, Iowa, and Patrick (Marikay) Trimble of Sanibel, Florida.
