TOWN COUNCIL

Proposed ban on diversity programs postponed by Fountain Hills council

Waiting on state legislature

The Fountain Hills Town Council voted 6-1 at its April 16 regular session to delay consideration of a proposed policy that would ban the town from establishing or supporting diversity, equity and inclusion programs (DEI).

The policy was proposed by Councilman Allen Skillicorn and he was the lone vote opposing the continuance.

Councilwoman Hannah Toth said she supports the proposal saying she is puzzled by the opposition. “We are talking about merit-based employment,” Toth said. “The policy says no to discrimination.”
