The ballet company’s season starts in earnest Oct. 31 with the opening of Cinderella at Phoenix Symphony Hall. The production continues through Nov. 3.
Other programs include The Nutcracker, Dec. 6-24; La Bayadere (The Temple Dancer), Feb. 13-16, 2014; Masters of Movement, March 27-30; All Balanchine, May1-4; and Innovations, May 22-June 1. Innovations will be held in the new Dorrance Theatre and will highlight Artistic Director Ib Andersen’s commitment to dance innovation and encouragement of emerging choreographers.
Anderson also debuts the world premiere of La Bayadere. Set in India, the story follows the heartbreaking tale of a temple dancer and a young warrior kept apart in life and united only in death.
Tickets for all performances are available at the theater box office, (602) 381-1096, or online at www.balletaz.org. The new theater is located at 2835 E. Washington St. in Phoenix.
