My husband has asked me to continue our thoughts and arguments against a town property tax.
Mr. Thompson, you stated “we all want and need the level of services expected in a first-rate and beautiful community.”
What are you missing? We have everything: Four golf courses, great schools, police, paramedics and fire department, many beautiful parks, lighted baseball and soccer fields, a dog run, skate park, splash pad and kids playgrounds.

Also, a museum, library, town hall, civic center loaded with programs, we maintain clean and safe sidewalks and streets.
The great recession has not stopped our many improvements, including paving of roads. Unlike a property tax, when we pay off the bond the tax is over.
We have an abundance of retail stores and services. The construction being started on the Avenue of the Fountains will provide many more services and stores.
Last year we collected more sales taxes than was anticipated. I believe there was no override to the budget.
We have lived here for 38 years and never had any regrets for moving here. We are sorry you are as disappointed with our town, its services, and feel there is so much missing.
I guess you are not concerned about people on fixed incomes or their cost of living. Young families are prohibited from moving here because of the high cost of housing. The last thing they need is higher taxes.
Why don’t you try not spending other peoples’ money; also, threatening the town council for keeping our taxes low. What are the community problems you refer to? Do you even know?
