Cindy Wharton supports The Arizona We Want organization (aka Center for the Future of Arizona). Their Website (thearizonawewant.org) displays “The Arizona We Want 2.0 - Case for Action,” which may be of concern to some.

This organization is setting up Arizona as example across the nation. Currently in 84-plus schools, they utilize eight specific goals -- all targeting Arizona: Education (assimilation through state leadership), Job Creation, Environment & Water, Infrastructure (light rail to all urban regions), and Healthcare (for all).
On 5/13/11 Rick Davis wrote a letter of intent to committee members to participate in Arizona We Want. Here are some excerpts:
“The Town of Fountain Hills enthusiastically submits its intent to participate in the Arizona We Want Five Community Project. Perhaps no other community is more emotionally and fiscally invested in the goals of this initiative than Fountain Hills…
“Fountain Hills would like to execute a targeted marketing strategy to the Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco markets designed to bring specific types of employers…
“In addition to completing the urban trails master plan, which will be designed to encourage citizens to utilize non-motorized transportation options, the Town would like to conduct a feasibility study into a Town operated transit system…
“Given the viability of such a system, the Town desires to acquire and commission a system of small buses which will route around Fountain Hills, utilizing major arterials and collectors, delivering riders to connecting transit on Shea Boulevard at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, the end of the Valley Metro line. Once acquired, the Town would maintain and operate these buses and administer the transit system.”
Need I say more? (All citizen-driven goals from a survey just like the bus one.)
(Editor’s Note: Rick Davis is a former town manager.)
