An attorney for Anna Mae Blessing, the 92-year-old Fountain Hills woman accused of shooting and killing her 72-year-old son is asking the court to have his client moved out of jail to a location where she can receive more appropriate care.
Blessing has been in custody at the Maricopa County Jail infirmary since right after the shooting on July 2. Sheriff Paul Penzone said she was in the infirmary in deference to her age.
Attorney Ulises Ferragut has told the court Blessing experiences painful back ailments and uses a wheelchair.
Ferragut said he is exploring options for Blessing’s care if the $500,000 cash only bond can be posted. He would not comment on what options he is looking into.
Blessing and her son, Thomas, were arguing over his plan to move her to a nursing home when she allegedly shot him with a weapon she had concealed in the pocket of her robe.
