The Church of the Ascension is offering a reduced price for early registration in its Christmas in July Vacation Bible School to be held July 15-19.

Early registration until June 15 is $35 for the first child in a family and $20 for each additional child. The regular fee is $40 per child with each additional child in a family $25.

Interested participants can register online at Church of the Ascension’s website (ascensionfh.org) starting May 8.

The vacation Bible school is designed for preschoolers (children four years or older) through fifth grade.

The program is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, July 15-19, in the parish hall.

The week will be filled with games, music, food and crafts and Bible stories. The week will end with a petting zoo.

The classes will focus on the tradition of the Jesse Tree, which traces the ancestry of Jesus through the old and New Testament.

The Jesse Tree is named for Jesse, the father of King David. Its scriptural base is Isaiah 11:1: “A root shall sprout from the stump of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of its roots.”

The week will celebrate the women and men who, like John the Baptist, prepared the way for the coming of the Lord.

Middle schoolers, high schoolers and adult volunteers are needed to assist with activities. Contact Cheryl Hentz at 480-837-1066 or chentz@ascensionfh.org.
