Church of the Ascension is in the fourth year of its five-year commitment to help fund infrastructure projects in the Diocese of Tshumbe, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The goal again this year is to raise $50,000. In the past three years, $130,000 has been raised for people who lack the very basics of life.
The Diocese of Tshumbe is in the center of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The town of Tshumbe has a population of approximately 30,000. At this time the infrastructure is so minimal as to be nonexistent. No sewers, no electricity, no paved roads.

Ascension Church reconfirms well support in Congo

Contributions from Fountain Hills have been used to build a classroom building and provide very rudimentary supplies for a hospital in addition to water.
A major project is underway to provide potable water through a series of wells. The goal is to have fresh tap water for every 250 persons.
Villagers stand in line at the water tap to fill their jerry cans and from there carry it to their huts.
Bishop Djomo visited Fountain Hills last year and this year sends his message of gratitude and prayers.
