Every vote defines who we are and what we want our community, state and country to be.

I believe our vote in this 2016 election is a defining factor in what this country may become. In this 2016 campaign we have heard some very disturbing insults against women, minorities, the disabled, veterans and just about any other group that Donald Trump decides to ridicule and bully. Donald Trump’s actions and statements are indefensible. I thought about many of his comments and they are so vile that I was taken aback.

I was really struck by his comment about Senator John McCain regarding the years he was held as a prisoner of war. Donald Trump commented, “I like people who weren’t captured, OK?” How degrading for all those who have protected this country and were captured. This is a comment from a man who didn’t serve his country. I could never vote for someone who belittles what our veterans have sacrificed for us.

I am appalled by Trump’s statement about Senator McCain and every other American should be, too. So many Americans, men and women, have fought hard and long to ensure safety and equality for all Americans, and we still have work to do. Donald Trump’s insults and attitude during this campaign have shown us the kind of person he is and the kind of leader he would be.

Electing Donald Trump would set back the progress made by all of us. A vote for Donald Trump negates the progress we have made in protecting the freedoms of all, ensuring equality, and continuing towards betterment.

Vote against Donald Trump, he is bad for America.
