While reading about the Roman Empire I was intrigued by the political philosophy of giving the Roman citizens more information than they could absorb.
This overload kept the people somewhat confused and pliable. As long as the “Political Ruling Class” furnished the welfare and benefits as a constant reliable source of comfort, the ruling class found they could suspend their own laws with impunity. That’s anarchy. Sound familiar?
When the Executive Branch of our government suspends the law for any purpose then, the Constitution is set aside and lawlessness prevails. If society will not react and elected officials remain silent, then a ruling class is formed. Without Constitutional checks and balances, anarchy (no government) becomes a real possibility.

The president has decided to suspend some laws. Employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), suspension of immigration laws, No Child Left Behind Act, annual executive budget to name a few. Where is the outcry from the public? Where are the actions being taken by Congress? Where is the Judiciary’s involvement? Where is the enforcement of that part of the Constitution that states that the president “shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed”?
The Father of Anarchism, the French philosopher Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, said, “Laws: We know what they are, and what they are worth! They are spider webs for the rich and mighty, steel chains for the poor and weak, fishing nets in the hands of the Government.”
Who decides our fate without laws? What do we become if we don’t enforce our laws? Where will future generations get their laws? How are we to function without Constitutional will?
Aren’t we fast becoming a Roman Empire with an over burdensome government? Hasn’t government controls and welfare gotten out of control? Can anarchy be far behind? Toga party anyone?
