This year, the American Legion is celebrating the 71st year of The American Legion Arizona Boys State program. Boys State is a leadership action program where high school juniors participate in a practical governmental course designed to develop a working knowledge of the structure of state and local government.
The state event will be held June 4-10 where two boys will be chosen from all participants to represent the State of Arizona at Boys Nation, held in Washington, D.C. An honor and highlight will include meeting the president of the United States at the White House.
VFW Post 58 officials said Smith will be an outstanding representative for the post, Fountain Hills High School and as an outstanding member of the community.
