We saw “America” this weekend; this movie is a wow!

In some instances the movie was quite critical of the present administration, although the reasoning behind the truth was compelling. I didn’t know that the United States recognized all the Spanish Land Grants in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, and paid the debt of Mexico after the Mexican War. You would think that Mexico would have been able to advance their economy and develop a positive society. Shame they just couldn’t put it together.

Also the British Debt System and the suppression of Ireland resulted in white indentured servants outnumbering African slaves. The indentured servants weren’t treated better than the slaves and for all practical purposes their lives were forfeited.

Another truth revealed that there were over 300,000 soldiers killed in the Civil War in order to give Africans liberty. Those soldiers weren’t sitting on their behinds in back rooms making money from the war; they thought their task was noble. What other country has that history?

This movie reinforced my faith in America. Take some time and look at yourself through that prism and be proud. Maybe our children deserve another view of history. What do you think? God bless.
