Aister hearing Friday morning

A public hearing for Fountain Hills Unified School District teacher Pam Aister has been set for Friday morning, Sept. 12, at 9:30 a.m. in the district Learning Center.

The School Board voted during the summer to suspend Aister, with pay, pending the upcoming hearing to determine if she should be dismissed, face other disciplinary measures or be re-instated.

The board action stemmed from Aister’s potential involvement in an unspecified incident allegedly involving a handful of students on the Four Peaks Elementary School campus during the 2013-14 school year.

After an executive session, the board voted to appoint a hearing officer for a certified employee dismissal proceeding, determining that there was enough information to consider suspension, dismissal or administrative leave for Aister.

Following the board’s decision, Aister told The Times she requested that her hearing be held in public, agreeing upon Prudence Lee to serve as the hearing attorney.

No public comment will be allowed during next Friday’s hearing.

Hearing attorney Lee will take both accounts into consideration before making a recommendation to the Governing Board concerning any potential disciplinary action. The board will then vote on the recommendation at a future meeting.
