A recent letter had all the facts backwards

The letter from Chris Brant was filled with misinformation and partisan labels.

“Deep State,” for example. That idea should have been thrown out after Trump was elected. Would a Deep State really let that happen? And the myth about “tax and spend Democrats” being responsible for our huge debt while Republican cuts are necessary should be thrown out, too. Any financial chart affirms that the economy does much better under Democrats.

Clinton was the only president to actually leave office with a surplus while Trump initiated the largest debt increase ever. But that doesn’t even tell the whole story. When Obama and Biden spent money increasing the deficit, it was for new programs that brought much-needed healthcare, jobs, infrastructure, manufacturing, etc. to benefit ordinary Americans after Republican administrations left us with economies in deep recession. Bold expenditures were necessary to save the auto industry, small businesses and prevent another depression. Trump’s reason, however, for tripling the deficit was only to benefit his wealthy friends. And he’s poised to do that again with Musk’s help. Does that sound fair to anyone?
