We want to see you and your families at the museum that day. After all, the price is right. It’s free admission all day. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To top it off, the River Bank Store in the museum has all merchandise on sale for 10 percent off. There are a few selected items at discounts of 20 to 50 percent off!

While we’re talking about the museum, that reminds me that the last dinner meeting of the Fountain Hills and Lower Verde River Valley Historical Society is next Wednesday evening, May 21.

The topic is “How the Native Americans got their horses.”

Guest speaker is Jim Turner, who has previously spoken on topics to the historical society and shown why he is a much sought-after public speaker. He is a retired historian with the Arizona Historical Society.

Reservations must be made by Sunday, May 18. Call Jean Linzer, 837-0762, for reservations and additional information.

Congratulations to Dustin Amick for winning The Fountain Hills Times Communications Scholarship during the Fountain Hills High School’s annual awards night last week.

I understand he is trying to decide on his college plans and has three or four in mind. He will be studying either mass communications, film or journalism.

I had a few of you ask whether there was any way you could read Rebecca Seymour’s columns. She is the person I wrote about in last week’s column.

Well, yes you can by going on the Internet. The web address is www.livinglakecountry.com. Then click on the Oconomowoc Focus and click on columns. They are archived under her name.

Could this be the week we finally hit the century mark in Fountain Hills? The weather this year has been incredible. We enjoyed temperatures in the 70s and 80s in the winter months, and we haven’t officially hit the 100-degree mark so far at the official weather station at Fountain Park.

Phoenix had two 100+ degree days on May 3 and 4, however, our official highs were 97 degrees both days.

Forecast for the end of the week is predicting 104 in Phoenix. So, stay cool. This may be the week.

In case you missed it, I want to echo the words of former School Superintendent Walt Dunne’s letter to the editor in last week’s paper.

The smiling Joanne Meehan has been with the School District for over 30 years, but this will be her last when the school year comes to an end next week.

She has served as principal of Four Peaks and McDowell Mountain Elementary schools. As Walt noted, during that time she “has worked with seven superintendents, over 100 governing board members, more than 500 teachers and staff members and literally thousands of parents and especially students.”

I guess I can wrap this up by saying, you can be proud of your accomplishments, Joanne, and have a “super great” retirement.
