A little of this and a little of that

This is the last issue of the month for The Times and there is a difference in the issue this week. The new On the Go calen-dar appears on Pages 12 A and 13A.

There is no longer a print version of Let’s Go. The publication had its debut in June of 1999, and the August 2015 edition was the last printed version.

We have not ended the production of Let’s Go. It is now just available as an on-line publication rather than printed.

We have not ended the production of Let’s Go. It is now just available as an on-line publication rather than printed.

Originally, it was an en-tertainment and business publication serving the Northeast Scottsdale and Fountain HiIls areas.

The new online version of Let’s Go appears Sept. 1. An interactive calendar will begin that day, and new stories, columns and blogs will be online starting then. The interactive cal-endar will enable readers to post events as well as peruse activities taking place throughout the state.

Visit myletsgo.com to check out the new Let’s Go On-line, the latest from Western States Publishers, Inc. We think you’ll like it.

The Fountain Hills High School Falcons sports teams start their fall sea-sons this week and next.

The football team will have a new head coach af-ter the only coach the school has ever had since its opening in 1992, Jim Fairfield, retired at the end of the last school year.

His replacement is Willie Dudley, who will be on the sidelines Friday night when the Falcons play at North-west Christian. Game time is 7 p.m.

First home game for the football team is on Friday, Sept. 4, when the Falcons play Estrella Foothills. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

And, yes, Dana Saar will be at the microphone as the play-by-play announc-er. He has been announc-ing the high school football home games since the school opened.

The girls volleyball team opens its season at home against Winslow on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Game time is 6 p.m.

The boys and girls Cross Country teams are away for a meet with Shadow Mountain on Wednesday, Sept. 2. First home meet is Sept. 12 with a 7 a.m. start.

Last week’s front page photo of all of the saguaro cacti was reminiscent of the saguaro “sanctuary”that was south of El Lago Blvd. and east of Saguaro Blvd. in the community’s early development days.

Those saguaros were removed from the Fountain Park and downtown areas during the early grading of the community. Just as the collection of giant cacti are being stored for replanting in Adero Canyon, that orig-inal group of saguaros were replanted throughout the community.

On a sad closing note, we received word on Mon-day of the passing of Elea-nor Bentson, who for many years served as manager of the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center. The first one was located at Foun-tain Park. The current loca-tion was opened in the ear-ly 1990s.

She was also very active with the Fountain Hills Re-publican Club.

My memories of Eleanor are nothing but good. She was a fantastic asset to the community.
