A little of this and a little of that

Each year Christians celebrate the coming of the baby Jesus at Christmas.

But they also believe the next “coming” will be of the risen Christ.

“If He returned tomorrow, would we be ready? Would you?” asked Bill Good, pastor at the Fountain Hills Presbyterian church.

“Jesus is coming! How do you react to that statement of truth? Some people wring their hands in fear. Or roll their eyes in skepticism. Or yawn with disinterest. Or jump up and down with excitement.

“While no one knows the day or the hour of His return, Jesus Himself instructed His disciples repeatedly to be ready. Ready for what exactly? We have more questions than answers sometime.”

Residents are invited to join Sylvia Burke, Pastor Bill Good and Pastor Ken Brown for a special five- week series beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21, and going through Nov. 18.

The class will begin at 12 noon and include a lunch prepared by Presby Chef Arlene Stewart for a nominal $5 charge.

Call Marta, at the church office (open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., daily) to reserve a lunch. For attendees’ convenience, the class will be repeated Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m., but there will be no dinner provided at this time.

Everyone is welcome to bring a brown bag dinner though.

“Join us as we explore and come to know our Bible better and the message that the Lord has for all of us, in this opportunity to grow and learn together,” Good said.

The church’s address is 13001 Fountain Hills Boulevard, and the session will be held in the Fellowship Hall, towards the back of the campus.
