This weather is something else. We went from 80 degrees on Monday at the beginning of Thanksgiving week to barely reaching 60 by week’s end.
I had 34 degrees and some light frost at my house on Friday morning. It was 32 degrees and a little more frost on Monday morning.
But I understand that it’s supposed to be back in the 70s by the coming weekend which is good news for the different festivities that are planned including the Chamber’s Stroll in the Glow on the Avenue of the Fountains.

Talking about the Stroll and the cold weather, I remember one of the earliest Strolls in the Glow was also the coldest. Cassie Hansen organized the talent for the evening. She asked me if I could be Elvis, rising from beneath the bleachers and singing “Blue Christmas.”
I agreed, and literally turned blue in the 28 degrees it was that evening and there I was in my bare chested white jumpsuit.
They are all good memories now but that night all I could think about was how cold I was.
Speaking of the cold weather, last Friday I was talking to my publisher friend, Bob Sweeney, who has a paper in the Denver area. He said it was terrible there.
They had an ice storm earlier that day leaving three-quarters of an inch of ice on the road and it was snowing heavily while we spoke.
He and wife, Geri, plan to visit me in January or February. The last time he visited, it was extremely cold here. The high that day was 45 degrees!

Another weekend event will be the reopening of the River of Time Museum, after a two-month closure for remodeling.
Museum Executive Director Luke Bate has been the driving force behind the remodeling of the museum which originally opened in 2003.
Located next to the Fountain Hills Library, the museum will be re-opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Chamber Ambassadors at 10 a.m. Saturday. The museum will be open until 4 p.m. that day.
The redesign ties together the various displays about the vital role water has played in the area‘s development.
Sure to be an attraction in the museum is a working scale model of the fountain. It is located in the former foyer area just inside the museum’s main entrance.

We hope you enjoyed our HOME edition that should have come in your mailbox a few weeks ago.
We are currently planning to publish another Let’s Go publication the last week of February, which will be called Play Ball! It will include our annual preview and schedule for MLB Cactus League Spring Training baseball by nationally known baseball writer Charlie Vascellaro, as we have done for years.
However, this will be different since it will also include previews and information about Fountain Hills Little League, the high school baseball and softball teams and the Town’s adult softball program.
It should be an attractive piece for advertisers. Call John, Brent or Duke for rates.
