A great big welcome...

From all indications, it appears the weather and other conditions will be perfect for the three-day Great Fair being held Friday through Sunday.

Except for one issue…

We should probably hang some “excuse our mess” signs near the intersection of Shea and Saguaro boulevards, but such is the price of progress and improved infrastructure. The lines waiting to get out of town on Saguaro Blvd. could indeed be long those three days.

The local construction taking place near Saguaro and Fountain Hills boulevards really shouldn’t impact fair traffic. And hopefully the work on Saguaro will be substantially done by the time the November Fountain Festival rolls around…

Despite the street construction, however, downtown Fountain Hills and the Chamber of Commerce should be ready to stage another successful art fair. Hopefully most of the kinks will be worked out with regard to the “food courts” and all the non-profits, restaurants and other food vendors will have a successful fair. With the good weather, artists should do well, too.

The Great Fair has a long and successful history. It’s an important revenue source for the Chamber and the Town of Fountain Hills does benefit with increased sales tax revenue due to art sales, additional transactions in local businesses, etc.

Let’s welcome our visitors with open arms and show how proud we are of our great community.
