A Congress Carol

‘Twas the night before Christmas for the Senate and the House, and they were all out to dinner with their mistress or their spouse.

At a lavish restaurant none of us could afford, with Dom Perignon in case they get bored.

With steak and lobster and a champagne toast and it’s all been paid for by the lobbyist host.

Another bottle of Dom Perignon, boy they really know how to take care of their own.

On Donner and Blitzen let’s get back to the house, I’m too drunk to drive and so is my spouse.

It’s Christmas Day, time to open our gifts, with most of them donated by lobbyists.

A home theater system and the newest iPad, It was really nice of that lobbyist lad.

I looked out the window when I heard my wife sigh, a brand new car from that corporate guy.

Two tickets to Paris on a flight that’s first class with a thank you note for the bill that I passed.

It’s been a great year with a better one in sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
