The winners of the 13th Annual Protect Our Youth Coalition Essay Contest were announced during the awards luncheon Thursday, Feb. 27.
A total of 17 students were recognized at the luncheon where their families, FHUSD staff, coalition staff and town council members joined together to hear the students’ essays. Fourteen students earned honorable mention awards ($50) while freshman Quinton O’Connor won third place ($100), freshman Roslyn Rubel won second place ($300) and senior Lucia Kalmbach won first place ($1,000).
Students wrote essays based on one of three prompts written by the Coalition Falcon Five Interns.
