Two choices

Posted

My wife and I attended the mayoral debate last week between Ginny Dickey and Cecil Yates. I believe they both love Fountain Hills. However, they have different views for the future.

Ginny shows a passion to retain our small-town atmosphere while keeping us safe and retaining the natural beauty and views that attracted us to this beautiful little town. During the past 35 years she has spent many years as a member on different boards, councils and voluntary activities to support the wants and needs of the residents and to make our town great. I truly believe that Ginny has the compassion, knowledge, leadership and true grit to do what’s right for Fountain Hills.

Cecil came across as a businessman and a politician. The business side is more interested and concerned about his business and business partners’ wants and not necessarily what the citizens want. Case in point, he was a huge fan and supporter of the apartment/business eyesore on the Avenue of the Fountains. The almighty dollar will always be the leading element in a businessman’s plan with the needs and wants of the people a distant second.

The politician side was rather rude and boisterous. Shouting over his opponent, making snide remarks and having a grin on his face while Ginny was speaking. Based on Cecil’s actions during the debate, David Sarnoff’s quote is true, “Competition brings out the best in products and the worst in people.”

There are two choices. Do you want someone running our town with allegiance to the business world and the almighty dollar or do you want someone who will represent the citizens and do what’s right to maintain the infrastructure of our beautiful town, Fountain Hills? If the latter fits your needs, vote Ginny Dickey!
