Elmer Wilfred Naber, Jr.

Elmer Wilfred Naber, Jr. was born on June 2, 1934 in Buffalo, N.Y. He went home to our Lord and Savior on Jan. 5, 2019 after an extended battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann Naber and two sons, Michael Allen Naber and David Vincent Naber.

Elmer graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo in 1951 and St. Bonaventure College in Oswego N.Y. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 30 years with assignments in Vietnam, Korea, Netherlands and Germany and numerous stateside assignments including at the Pentagon. He retired as a colonel.

He continued his lifelong service to the public for an additional 10 years as a middle school mathematics teacher here in the Valley. He was very active on both the pastoral and finance committees at Fountain Hills Church of the Ascension.

He was an avid golfer who immensely enjoyed his weekly round with his friends at Longbow Golf Course. Elmer loved working in the garden and all the professional sports the Valley offers including the Cardinals, Suns, Diamondbacks and Coyotes.

Catholic Mass will be held at the Church of The Ascension, 12615 North Fountain Hills Boulevard, Fountain Hills on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. and internment services with full military honors will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona on Jan. 14, 2019 at 12:30 p.m.
