The local Spooner Physical Therapy branch is gearing up to host a special workshop designed for people with Parkinson’s called “The Power of Movement.”

This two-day event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13. The cost to participate is $180 and lunch will be provided.

The Power of Movement will be hosted out of Spooner Scottsdale, located at 9097 E. Desert Cove Ave., Suite 110 in Scottsdale. During the sessions, Spooner staff aim to achieve four goals:

*Experience fun with exercises that improve movement, such as yoga, boxing, tanog and gait training.

*Learn to be safe and effective during exercise through personalized instruction and small-group training by a licensed physical therapist.

*Discover the benefit of exercise in management of symptoms.

*Develop a network of friends to share strategies and information.
