Summit for dementia caregivers in Fountain Hills

Dementia Friendly Fountain Hills and the Town of Fountain Hills are holding a special summit for caregivers living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Taking Care of You: Self-Care for the Dementia Caregiver is Saturday, April 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana Drive.
The program will provide caregivers with new skills, techniques and strategies to relieve the stress of caregiving, build resilience, experience joy, find meaning and discover hope on the journey. Attendees will also have opportunities to meet with industry professionals and services catering to the needs of families living with dementia.
Presentation topics will include “Mindful Living for Your Physical Health & Emotional Well-Being” with Maribeth Gallagher, Dementia Program Director, Hospice of the Valley; “Engaged and Connected Living to Building Support, Meaning and Creativity” presented by Sherri Friend, president and CEO of Oakwood Creative Care; “Cultivating Positivity in Caregiving: Research-Based Ways to Promote Happiness and Well-Being,” presented by Janice Greeno of Banner Sun Health Research Institute and Banner Alzheimer’s Institute; and “Music as a Tool for Wellness” will be presented by Amanda Marcum, a board-certified music therapist at Hospice of the Valley.
Taking Care of You: Self-Care for the Dementia Caregiver is a free event. Refreshments are provided courtesy of the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce.
