The 2024 Verdes Art League Lecture Series will wrap up at 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, with “Artist Stories of Opportunity & Inspiration” presented by Phoenix Art Museum docent Liz Smith.

The lecture will be held in the Rio Verde Community Center Multi-Purpose Room.

How does a museum choose pieces of artwork? Join Smith as she unravels the hows and whys of some of Phoenix Art Museum’s most loved works of art. Travel back in history and learn how the very first painting was purchased. Also learn how circumstance and opportunity can be as critical to an artist as their inspiration. Those who attend this lecture may never look at a piece of artwork in the same way again.
