In February Ladies in Fellowship Together (LIFT) from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church held its annual charity drive.
This year the group selected Jacob’s Hope, a specialty care nursery located in Mesa.
Participants donated baby care needs such as diapers, ointments, multi-motion baby swings and towel warmers, a press release said.
The Jacob’s Hope facility provides 24-hour medical care to substance-exposed newborns and support to moms on the path to recovery and prenatal care to mothers in need, the release added.
According to its website, the stated mission of the facility is “to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for both mother and child during a critical phase of their lives. We are committed to providing a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for mothers with substance use disorder (SUD) to care for their newborn, starting with non-pharmacologic methods.
“By caring for the mothers of these babies, we embrace them with support and give hope for the restoration of the family.”
