Kari Lake to speak to Fountain Hills Republicans

May 18 speakers announced

At its meeting Saturday, May 18, the Fountain Hills Republican Club (FHRC) will host four candidates who will participate in the Republican Primary in July, said FHRC Program Chair Boe James.

U.S. Senate Candidate Kari Lake is scheduled to make her pitch for Republican votes, according to James.

The club hosted Lake’s primary election opposition Sheriff Mark Lamb last month.

Incumbent U.S. Representative David Schweikert (AZ CD 1) will also speak, making his appeal to return to Congress for an eighth term.

Schweikert’s two Republican opponents, Kim George and Robert Backie, will appear before the club on June 15.

Gina Godbehere, who again is running against County Attorney Rachel Mitchell for that office, and Don Hiatt, who is running for county recorder, will round out the slate of keynote speakers.

County recorder challenger Justin Heap, incumbent Stephen Richer and other candidates for county recorder will appear at future meetings.

Candidates for other offices and some elected officials will also attend the meeting and, in accordance with club tradition, all such persons are given a short opportunity to speak about their campaign or office.

In addition to the candidate speeches, the current Republican of the Year, Larry Meyers, will give a short presentation and then announce the awardee and present the award to the new Republican of the Year.

The FHRC meeting is open to all, and the press release said Republicans and conservative-minded Independents might find it useful in deciding who to vote for in the July 30 primary election.

FHRC meets in the Fountain Hills Community Center and starts at 9 a.m. with a registration and social period starting at 8:30 a.m.

The Club’s GOP Social is planned for Wednesday, May 22, at 5 p.m. at Parkview Tap House, 16828 E. Parkview Ave., where candidates and elected officials are expected to join assembled conservatives and like-minded independents but are not allowed to give speeches.

If a voter wants to receive a ballot while away, they need to contact the County Recorder’s office.
