Fountain Hills Memory Café Dec. 14

Dementia-friendly program

Posted

The Town of Fountain Hills will  participate in a growing network of communities in the Dementia Friendly America program, a national network of communities, organizations and individuals working to ensure communities across the country are equipped to support people with dementia and their caregivers.

Dementia friendly communities foster the ability of people living with dementia, or other memory impairment, to remain in their community and engage and thrive in day-to-day living.

The Town of Fountain Hills is the 10th community in Arizona to receive the Dementia Friendly America designation.

The Memory Café program is held on the second Thursday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Fountain Hills Community Center, 13001 N. La Montana. Meetings are open to the public and no fee or membership is required. Prestige In Home Care facilitators lead the monthly meetings for caregivers, adult children and spouses.

Each meeting begins with coffee and pastries while socializing with other attendees and their family care partners. Attendees with memory impairment are welcome to join in an engaging activity while their care partners gather in a support group.

The next Memory Café is Thursday, Dec. 14, at 9:30 a.m.

This activity is sponsored by the Town of Fountain Hills Community Center.
