The Desert Valley Winds Concert Band will perform a free concert at the Fountain Hills Community Center Saturday, May 11, at 12 noon.
The ensemble will perform a program of concert band music that will appeal to everyone in attendance, a press release said, including music from motion pictures, Broadway shows and Dixieland music, patriotic selections, big band dance music, rock ‘n roll and an appearance of Herb Albert. Audience participation is encouraged.
Desert Valley Winds is a 35-piece concert band composed of musicians from all walks of life who enjoy playing and performing music.
The ensemble is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the performance and preservation of live wind band music.
The band has been featured and performed at the Arizona State Fair, Falcon Field, Marine Ball, Wreaths Across America and The Phoenix Heart Walk.
Members are from many localities throughout the East Valley including Fountain Hills Town Councilmember Brenda Kalivianakis, a musician in the band playing alto saxophone.
The press release invites community members to bring family, friends and neighbors for “an enjoyable Saturday with the Desert Valley Winds, one of the most entertaining concert bands in the Valley.”
