Culp: We can’t do it without Mayor Dickey

Posted

On July 30, the residents of Fountain Hills will be called upon to make a decision that will chart the course of our town for decades to come. We can choose to follow the course charted by Mayor Ginny Dickey toward a better, kinder and more dynamic Fountain Hills or we can veer wildly off course by electing one candidate, who lives in the past and really just wants to be a sheriff again, or another candidate, who has repeatedly demonstrated that he does not have the vision, fortitude or work ethic to lead us in the right direction.

The chaos and divisiveness of the past 18 months has established beyond doubt that elections do have consequences. In recent weeks, entire Town Council meetings have been devoted to dealing with the deliberately disruptive and subversive acts of one newly elected councilman.

Through this chaotic period Mayor Dickey has remained calm and resolute. Time and again she has managed to return the council’s and the public’s attention to the day-to-day business of government.

During her decades of service to our community Ginny Dickey has demonstrated a unique talent for forging meaningful government, business and civic partnerships that have advanced the town’s interests and enhanced its image. Mayor Dickey has proven that she can manage the town’s limited resources effectively and, without fanfare, has successfully pursued alternate funding sources to support special projects and infrastructure improvements.

I am a proud supporter of Mayor Dickey’s Crossroads Campaign. We need to move our Town past the destructive rancor of the past 18 months toward the promise and opportunity of the future. We can’t do it without her.
