I am asking the Town Council to please avoid creating another hare-brain, expensive study to determine whether we should switch to our own police department.
To those of you who are new to our community, we have already experienced our own form of policing, 20 years ago. It didn’t work out and, even with our own department; we will still need the Sheriff and their facilities.
We should all appreciate Mr. Robert Gal’s thoughtful suggestion of incorporating a well-coordinated volunteer group to assist. However, that too existed to assist our own Marshalls 20 years ago, and that also didn’t work out for various reasons.
Fountain Hills does not have the resources to create a police department. Our town has certainly grown in the past 20 or so years and now, more than ever, we must maintain a professional policing approach and that is what we get from the Sheriff.
