I do not know where to begin to fully express my gratitude to all the wonderful Home Delivered Meals volunteers and Town staff for their commitment to serving others during these challenging times.
Back in March, when the seriousness of COVID-19 became apparent, I started to worry and become concerned how we were going to continue delivering meals to our venerable clients who depended on our program for nutritious food. I thought as the days and weeks went by, more and more volunteers might ask to be put “on hold” because they needed to stay in and social distance for their own safety and the safety of their loved ones, to the point of not being able to continue the program. However, I need not have worried at all.
Our HDM volunteers and Town staff have been a blessing and stepped up to meet the challenge! They have been flexible as our instructions changed frequently with new procedures and requests. They followed the PPE guidelines for the safety of our clients and themselves. They offered to deliver extra days and last minute, whenever needed. They continued to treat our clients with respect, kindness and compassion. They provided that personal connection that our clients need as they stayed in place in their homes.
The Town continues to be committed to keeping this program alive during these challenging months. Our amazing HDM volunteers and Town staff make this possible! Please accept my heartfelt thank you for all you do keeping this program going and operating smoothly.
