Brush fire between FH and Verdes

Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has closed McDowell Mountain Road between Fountain Hills and Rio Verde due to a brush fire near the roadway.

MCSO first reported the fire shortly before 1 p.m. and indicated the location to be between McDowell Mountain Park and Rio Verde.

At this time it does not appear to be a threat to residential areas in Fountain Hills or the Verdes.

As of 3 p.m. there are not additional details regarding the fire, although smoke plumes can be seen rising from the area.
