Fountain Hills Democrats meet March 14

Club to host three speakers

Posted

The Democratic Club of Fountain Hills (FHDC) will meet at the Community Center Thursday, March 14.

The featured speakers this month include Dianne Post, Patti O’Neil and Ginny Dickey.

An attorney since 1980, Dianne Post has for 18 years, represented battered women and children in family and juvenile court, FHDC Secretary Chris Clemens said in a press release.

In 1998, Post shifted to international human rights law, focusing on sex-based violence, which remains her primary focus today, according to Clemens.

Post is the legal director for the Secular Coalition for Arizona. She is also in the NAACP, NOW and ERA Task Force AZ, Clemens added.

Post will speak to the club about the issue of secularism in America today.

The second speaker is Patti O’Neil who currently serves as chair of the Maricopa County Democratic Party.

She has successfully recruited county candidates, increased fundraising and has created monthly events to “re-engineer” donors and party officials to the Democratic party, Clemens said in the press release.

“Her vision for 2024 is developing strategies to increase voter turnout, to collaborate with party leaders and progressive groups, and to strive for party diversity,” Clemens said in the release.

The third speaker is Ginny Dickey, the mayor of Fountain Hills who has served three terms in that position.

Dickey is an executive committee member of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns along with other boards and commissions. Dickey was named to the Lower Verde Valley Hall of Fame and was listed among the 48 Most Intriguing Women of the Decade in 2022 by 48 Arizona Women and the Arizona Historical Society.

Dickey is seeking a fourth term as mayor of Fountain Hills.

The FHDC meeting officially begins at 6 p.m., but members and friends are welcome to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for socializing and snacks.

The community is invited to join FHDC for an evening that promises to be enjoyable with interesting, informative speaker presentations, Clemens said in the release.
