Honor Flight Arizona board member Karen Friddle recently accepted a donation Hills of $5,000 from the VFW Post 7507 in Fountain Hills to help fund future Honor Flights for veterans to the various veterans memorials in the Washington D.C. metro area.

All Honor Flights have veterans from across branches of service from the Korean War and all conflicts up to the Vietnam War, according to a press release from VFW Post 7507 Adjutant Boe James.

“Since the majority of WWII veterans have already participated in Honor Flights, not all include WWII veterans, but any WWII veteran who signs up is given priority for future flights,” James said.

Honor Flight Arizona took its first flight of 11 WWII veterans in November 2009. In addition to WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans, trips have also included close to 2,000 guardians who assist the veterans along the way, James said.

Veterans from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and other conflicts between those dates are invited to sign up for their no-cost Honor Flight, James said.

Honor Flight Arizona is part of the nationwide Honor Flight Network. Both are 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations able to do the work they do because of generous private donations and corporate support, said James in his press release.
